A few weeks ago in Guatemala, I tagged along to a follow up house visit with a couple of my team members. They had gone previously to visit a sweet young woman and her family. The young woman had either broken or seriously hurt her ankle about six months. She had been resting it and keeping it tightly wrapped ever sense. Walking had become really hard for her because of the amount of pain and her muscle had become weak. She would rotate between laying in bed and going to the kitchen to hangout.

When we arrived to her house we were warmly welcomed in by her sister and mother. Our sweet friend was in her room and popped right up when we arrived. We were able to chat for awhile. We asked her questions about her ankle and how the healing processes was going. She said that her foot still really hurt to walk on and she was really cold all the time. Soooo we pray over her ankle of course! We prayed for healing and for the pain to leave. We pray that her body would be warm and she would know that the Lord is working in her life. I was down on the floor by her ankle and I kid you not I could feel the Lord healing her. He is so good!!!

After we are done praying we begin to ask her a few more questions. My nurse brain kicked in and asked if she would unwrap her foot. As she unwrapped her foot I could see that it was pretty swollen and kind of blue. It had been wrapped really tight. I asked if she could wiggle her toes and move her foot in a few directions. She could rotate her foot with no pain! What??? As we sat there for a few minutes, the coloring in her foot came back and the swelling went down considerably!

This is the crazy cool part of the story! Are you ready for this!?! Cheeka (one of my team members) had previously broken her ankle at training camp. She wasn’t exactly sure if she should wait to come to Guatemala or come when we did. The Lord knew exactly what needed to happen and she came with us. She brought along her medical boot for her ankle and crutches. When she arrived in Guatemala the Lord healed her ankle and she no longer needed them. Part of why we went to visit this sweet young woman was because Cheeka wanted to gift these medical items to her.

Back to the house visit. Cheeka showed her how to use the medical boot and crutches. We place the boot on her foot and yes, it was a perfect fit!!! Come on Lord! She stood up and was really fearful because for 6 months it had hurt to walk. Before, everytime she stepped down pain would shoot through her foot. We kept encouraging her. I kept saying “you can walk.” It felt like a real “pick up your mat and walk” type situation here. Jesus told the man at the pool of Bethesdain John 5, to “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” It required the faith to do so from the one being healed. The Lord had healed our sweet friend and was ready for her to push past the fear to see that she can.

She started off wobbly. Took one step and put most of her weight on her mom. After a few steps like that we gave her one crutch and then eventually two crutches. She was able to walk by herself! We would go back to visit her 3 more times after. Each time the joy was brought back to her as well as independence. She would constantly thank us and we would point it to God. We were able to look at her and say she is a testimony for God. That he healed her and now she can be used to heal others through the same power. A quote from a podcast I listened to recently said this “By the Holy Spirit we become powerfully healed and powerful healers.” It is so true! The Lord used our wounds both physical and spiritual. We have extra authority when we walk in our wounds to be used to powerfully heal and speak life into them. What wounds do you have and are you letting the Lord use them? Ask me more because I would love to tell you more!

Updates!!!
right before I left for Guatemala I became fully funded!!! Praise God! Ask me a year ago and I would have thought it was crazy but here I stand as a testament to how the Lord provides. I still have a few team members who are not fully funded and if you would like to help them please let me know! thank you to everyone who has supported me financially and in prayer. I have created a prayer group via the internet and if you would like to join let me know!

  2. Morgan,

If you don’t mind, I’m going to repeat your couple of sentences here because it was so so encouraging.

By the Holy Spirit we become powerfully healed and powerful healers.” It is so true! The Lord used our wounds both physical and spiritual. We have extra authority when we walk in our wounds to be used to powerfully heal and speak life into them. What wounds do you have and are you letting the Lord use them?

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
    ??2 Corinthians? ?1:3-4? ?ESV??

One of the best answers on, “why does god allow bad things to happen to good people “?

Aside from the main answer, “free will “. How can we comfort others, and bless, and sacrifice and touch others lives powerfully unless we are selves have experienced the same things as part of our story, and get up real close with the gospel of touch to minister to others, with the same comfort and healing that Christ has done for us.
Your story is powerful Morgan and way to usher in the Thanksgiving holiday with, “in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. “:-)

  3. “And get up real close with the gospel of touch to minister to others with the same comfort and healing that Christ has done for us!”

I’m repeating too because that is so good! It is so true! We get to comfort people with the love and power Christ used for us. What??? Come on Lord! Thank you for sharing that and giving me a new perspective on this!

  4. I’m so excited to hear the stories you get to be a part of!! May our Lord continue to use your hands, feet, nursing experience and words!!
